Playful, roaming, shaggy, vibrant, quirky, chilled-out monsters,

hanging out in public spaces around Sydney.

The Monstrosities are a roaming performance taking place as a part of Art Month’s Green Square/Waterloo Precinct Night.

Performers in big, shaggy suits move from subtle ritualistic dance in under-appreciated spaces to large, amazingly ostentatious performance moments. It explores the way in which communities perceive themselves and their neighbours throughout the process of urban renewal. Responding to Sydney’s changing neighbourhoods, Monstrosities reflects the tension of transforming spaces and communities, drawing attention to the old whilst seeking to reconcile the new.
