Matriark will be staging Urza and the Song in the Dark at ARA Theatre Darling Quarter on the 10th December @ 12:30pm - kids go free!
A girl free-falls through filtered light.
A barefoot child slips silently between stalagmites evading a shadowy beast.
A legendary explorer searches for a lost song.
Urza and The Song in the Dark is a brand-new children’s fable set in a subterranean wonderland of complex caves, underground lakes and fantastical creatures. A mysterious song leads a young girl named Urza on an adventure to find her way back to the surface.
Devised for children and kiddults aged 7+, Urza and The Song in the Dark will be touring throughout 2020/21. Using Matriark’s signature punk-puppetry, live songs, original music and stunningly layered, shadow visuals; Urza is a unique work for young audiences.

Empathy through collaborative storytelling.
Using digital devices, the audience become adventurers, led on a journey of discovery as they photograph, interview, imagine and map the world around them. This information becomes a Codex, a permanent record of the present and a bridge to the future.

The terrifying streets of childhood
A team of young writers develop a series of short horror stories for young audiences under the mentorship of a skilled storyteller. This will be produced and streamed as a new, high-quality podcast of unsettling stories for kids: 'Eerie Street'.
